Bulk handling chutes and silos

Flow problems solved with the right liner, not a bigger hammer

Blocked chutes, ratholing silos and carry-back on conveyors are flow problems before they are wear problems. The fix is a liner with a low friction surface where material slides and a hard surface where it impacts — and getting that split right is the whole job.

How we choose the material for this duty.

  • Sliding walls, damp or sticky material: UHMW-PE PE1000 lining, 10 - 30 mm
  • Impact plates and deflectors: Hardox 450 / 500
  • Severe abrasion with fine, dry material: Hardox 600 or carbide tiles
  • Cold and frozen handling: UHMW-PE retains impact resistance below zero
  • Supplied cut, counterbored and with fixings for direct installation

Questions buyers ask about this duty.

Will a polymer liner really outlast steel?

In sliding abrasion with damp or sticky material, yes — UHMW-PE has a lower coefficient of friction and absorbs impact elastically, so material keeps moving and the liner does not dent. In high impact, high temperature or sharp-edged duty, steel or carbide is still the right answer.

What thickness of UHMW-PE lining should we use?

10 to 15 mm for chute walls and conveyor skirting, 20 to 30 mm for silo walls, truck bodies and heavy impact zones. Send the chute or silo drawing and the material being handled and we will specify it.
